WTC Final: Tim Southee made record by playing all-round, Ricky Ponting could not do so in his entire Test career

Tim Southee created history with his all-round game on Tuesday in the ongoing World Test Championship final against India. Saudi proved to be a hero for New Zealand with both bat and ball and with this two special records were also recorded in his name.

Saudi faced 46 balls and scored 30 runs with the help of one four and two sixes. With two sixes in the innings, he left behind the great Australian batsman Ricky Ponting. Saudi has overtaken Ponting in terms of hitting most sixes in Tests.

Including this innings, Saudi has hit 75 sixes in Tests. At the same time, Ponting had hit 73 sixes in 287 innings of 168 Test matches played in his career. Southee will have a chance to overtake MS Dhoni and Ben Stokes during the second innings. Dhoni has hit 78 sixes and Stokes has hit 79 sixes in Tests.

600 international wickets

After this, during the second innings of bowling, Southee made Indian opener Rohit Sharma (30) and Shubman Gill (8) his victim. Along with this, he also completed his 600 wickets in international cricket. Saudi has become the second bowler for New Zealand to achieve this feat. Prior to him is former spinner Daniel Vettori, who has taken 696 wickets for New Zealand in international cricket.

New Zealand’s first innings was bundled out for 249 and they took a lead of 32 runs.
