SOUTHAMPTON: New Zealand’s first innings lead against India in the World Test Championship final was given to Tim Southee at the tail end. The Kiwis took a 32 – run first – innings lead over Southee, who were bowled out for 30.

Southee scored six against Shamim and Jadeja during the batting. Southee’s huge six against Jadeja hit the face of a fan who was watching the game alone in the square leg gallery. The fan was injured when the ball hit him under the eye. There were also scenes of a fan bleeding from his face.

Southee Jadeja, who bowled Jadeja for six, was bowled by the Kiwis to seal the innings. Southee beat former Australia captain Ricky Ponting by six wickets in Tests yesterday. Southee has 75 sixes in 79 Tests. Ponting Guinea, who has 73 sixes, overtook Southee with a six against Jadeja.

Former Southee captain Brendon McCullum is the highest run-scorer in Tests with six. McCullum has 107 sixes from 101 Tests. Gilchrist is second with 100 sixes. Sachin Tendulkar (69), who has played 200 Tests, and AB de Villiers (64), who has played 114 Tests, are two runs behind Southee. Southee is currently 15th in Test cricket with six wickets. Southee is the only bowler in the top 15.
