BEYPORE: Minister PA Mohammad Riyaz said that Basheer is a writer who wrote only for the good of man. The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the 27th death anniversary of Vaikom Mohammad Basheer at his Vailal home in Beypore.
It was during this Kovid period that I had the opportunity to re-read Bashir’s books after some time. If the book Walls was about love on the walls and beyond, then in this Kovid era we are back in the world of walls. It amazes us that what Bashir wrote 50 years ago is relevant in this world today.
This is because Bashir has always been a pro-human writer. Bashir wrote for the good of man. Basheer’s works have always been a guide for social activists like me. The literary circuit announced by the government will be a fitting monument to Bashir. Minister PA Mohammad Riyaz said that everyone’s support is needed to make this project a reality.
Kozhikode Mayor Beena Philip presided over the function and Mizoram Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai delivered the keynote address. Mathrubhumi Managing Director MV Shreyamskumar MP, MK Raghavan MP and Anees Basheer spoke.
