Tim Southee is not only known for his bowling, but the New Zealand star is slowly but steadily climbing the batting charts in terms of hitting sixes in Test cricket. The New Zealand pacer displayed a scintillating game with the bat to give New Zealand a 32-run first innings lead in the final of the World Test Championship. He contributed 30 runs. In the case of hitting sixes in Test cricket, Saudi has left behind Ricky Ponting.

Tim Southee, known for hitting big sixes in Tests, hit two big sixes against India in the first innings of the World Test Championship final. Southee hit a six straight over the head of Ishant Sharma and then hit a long six off Ravindra Jadeja’s mid-wicket stand before being dismissed for 30 off 46 balls.

Tim Southee with 2 sixes surpassed Ricky Ponting in the list of most Test sixes. The New Zealand pacer now has 75 sixes and is ranked 15th in the list of batsmen with most sixes in the longest format of the game. Not only this, Southee is just 3 sixes behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record of 78 Test sixes.

Saudi is at number three in the list of New Zealand players who hit the most sixes. New Zealand player Brendon McCullum tops the list. McCullum has hit 107 sixes in Test cricket. Below him is Adam Gilchrist who has 100 sixes to his name. Chris Gayle is third in this list with 98 sixes. Apart from him, Jacques Kallis has 97 and Virender Sehwag has 91 sixes. Tim Southee is slowly moving up in this list.
