DELHI: Senior Goa BJP leader Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will be the 28th Governor of Himachal Pradesh. President Ram Nath Kovind has issued orders for his appointment. Along with this, Bandaru Dattatreya, who was the Governor of the state, has been appointed as the Governor of Haryana. Arlekar has also been the Goa’s Minister of Forest and Environment and Panchayati Raj in addition to the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly. Bandaru Dattatreya took over as the governor of the state in 2019.

He had taken important steps for the border areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur adjoining China. Apart from emphasizing on tribal development, DGP Sanjay Kundu was instructed to establish dialogue with the common people in this area. After this, many SP level officers were sent to these areas. Its report was prepared and sent to the Center through the Governor. In this report, apart from exodus of youth from marginal areas, topics like road and telecom network, lack of basic facilities, tourism development were covered.

After this report, from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Defense insisted and the road network started laying. Recently, Army Chief MM Naravane had also expressed concern over the exodus of youth and talked about providing employment to the youth there and strengthening the road network. CM Jai Ram Thakur has congratulated Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on behalf of all the people of the state on being appointed as the Governor of the state.
