New York Ad Ithaca is the oldest known record of ice cream sundae, but its origin is still debated. In an advertisement published in the Ithaca Daily Journal on October 5, 1892, ice cream was written as Sunday instead of Sunday.
The origins of Sunday ice cream have also been disputed by Wisconsin, who claims that druggist Edward Berners served the first Sunday ice cream in 1881. It is said that a customer had ordered ice cream soda on Sunday, while the sale of ice cream soda was banned at that time due to ordinances.
