SAN FRANCISCO: Apple’s upcoming M2 processor will arrive in early 2022 and its first hardware will be that of a MacBook with an updated color scheme. According to AppleInsider, Apple has so far released only one chip under the Silicon banner, with the M1 appearing in its first wave of transitional devices.

While it’s not clear what Apple’s next Apple silicon effort will be, one leaker claims that a proper second-generation chip won’t arrive until 2022. An iOS developer on Monday claimed on Twitter that the next-gen M2 is on track for release in the first half of 2022.

It will be included as a potential product. The Twitter account states that it will be the upcoming Colorful MacBook (Air). It is proposed that the next MacBook Air will stay in the usual silver casing with a more colorful lineup and may follow the 24-inch iMac.

The rumor is specifically about the M2, in that it differs from the M1X which is reserved for Pro-Mac devices. In February, it was claimed that there would be an iteration of the M1, using 12 CPU cores instead of 8 and 16 GPU cores instead of 7 or 8, as well as a higher thermal design of 35 watts instead of 15 watts. Point will be M1.

In April, a supply chain report was reported to be producing new MacBook Pro-models for the second half of 2021. The M2 is said to have entered mass production in April, which makes it a good candidate for use in new models.
